The Kalahari stretches for hundreds of kilometres along the Gariep (Orange) river forming an oasis of unspoilt nature reserves teeming with herds of game and protected species for among the finest game-viewing in Africa, wine farms, outdoor adventure activities, and the majestic Augrabies Falls are just a few of the attractions in this amazing area of South Africa. The Kgalagadi Transfrontier park is some 3.6 million hectares large, and is one of the few places big enough to support large-scale migration and predation. Red sand dunes, sparse vegetation and dry riverbeds showcase antelope such as blue wildebeest, springbok, gemsbok and eland and predators such as hyena, cheetah, leopard and black-maned lion, not to mention birds of prey. Be prepared to take the photos of a lifetime.
